Synopsis
Story begins 12 years prior to when maid Kim Mee-soon gave a birth to a child named, “Tak Goo.” As Kim became pregnant with SAMHWA food cooperation chairman, Goo In Jong’s child, Mr. Goo’s wife, Seoh In Sook forced Kim out of her house.
It is after 12 years that Tak Goo appears again at Mr.Goo’s birthday party to formally announce himself as the legitimate son of Mr. Goo. However, due to Seoh’s contempt towards him, he is driven out of the house once more.
It is at this worst moment in life that Tak Goo meets his everlasting mentor, “Pal bong” and his true love, “Yang Mi Seon.”
From then on he finally determines to embrace his new life by becoming the world’s best baker. However, his journey to his goal appears to be tough due to unexpected encounters with his first love and his step brother Gu Ma Jun. So how would his journey end?

Kim Tak Goo (Yoon Shi Yoon) (23 years old ~ early thirties ]
Although he is the eldest son of Food baking industry legend SAMHWA Enterprise’s President “Goo In Jong”.
He is much hated by his father’s legitimate family as he is the son of Goo In Jong’s mistress despites his talent in baking.
He was eventually dethroned from his rights to succeed his father due to a conspiracy and had to start building up his career again right from the bottom, facing many difficulties and trials.
Shin Yu Kyung (Eugene)
Having grown up poor and living with an alcoholic father, Yu Kyung has always wanted a better life.
She is known as an unreachable goddess to everyone around as she is both ruthless and elegant at the same time.
Although Yu Kyung is in love with Tak Goo due to her ambitions, she got trapped into a loveless marriage after she threw away love in place of getting power.
Goo Ma Jun (Joo Won) / Goo In Jong’s second son
He was supposed to be his father’s successor if his half-brother, Tak Goo didn’t appeared.
He is feeling jealous of his brother’s talents and his position.
Ma Jun often have the feeling of wanting to crush his brother which eventually leads him to an unfortunate end.
Goo In Jong (Jeon Gwang Ryul) : SAMHWA Enterprise’s President
A legend in the baking industries.
He chooses his eldest son, Tak Goo as his successor despite the fact that he is his illegitimate son due to his inborn baking talents.
However, his decision causes a rift and hatred between Tak Goo and his other three half-siblings as his wife plots to take back everything that was given to Tak Goo.
Kim Tak Goo’s girlfriend, Yang Mi Seon (Lee Young Ah)
Yang Mi Seon is a Patissier who works along with Tak Goo after his inheritance was taken away from him as both of them are learning their baking skills from her grandfather.
Although she thinks that Tak Goo as her rival at first, she falls in love with Tak Goo due to his nice personality.
Being the complete opposite of Yu Kyung, Mi Seon values her friendship, love and family above anything else and is willing to sacrifice herself for the sake of others. Although her kind virtues eventually captured the heart of Kim Tak Goo, she is also subjected to the bullying of Shin Yu Kyung.

this drama is more on the reality side, true enough that not all good beginnings end up
together, just like yu kyung and tak gu..so if you’ll gona skip this just because hndi sila,i think ur gona miss a lot.. it has more to offer than that..i love those true to lifa and inspiring lessons of perseverance..moreover, bagay tlga si yang mi seon and tak gu..i can feel the chemistry! ..love this drama although i havent finish watching it..seems like ayoko pang tapusin haha..im gona miss mi sun a lot..ske keeps me smiling the whole time..with that childish-sweet attitude of hers..kampai.

I love this drama series…so many life lessons on tolerance, patience, perseverance, cruelty, humility, responsibility and many more…teaches us to smile in spite of all the tragedies in life…so many moving quotes, admittedly, made me teary-eyed, made me cry, teardrops falling unknowingly and continuously…they should have re-titled this to “Cryer’s King”…almost all characters in this movie cried…one the best Korean drama series and so far the best that I’ve watched!

just like the others, i’ve spent almost two days watching the baker king with barely 4 hours of sleep. even at 2 am, i’m still crying my heart out… i cried, laughed, got mad, dreamt and hoped together with all the charaters. they’re all excellent actors and actresses. i wasn’t only entertained but i’ve learned a lot of values in life as well. this is the BEST korean drama i’ve watched so far. i was kinda amazed that yoon shi yoon has only a few projects to count, but he is such a revelation. i couldn’t possibly imagine anyone taking the role of kim tak goo! it was role tailor fitted for yoon shi yoon. thanks a lot for giving us a chance to see in that film several realities in life and for making us believe that no matter how difficult every situation can be, life is not that bad after all. the baker king and kim tak goo have given me so much inspiration. i will never forget them for the rest of my life….
the story is so beautiful..i always watch and im inspired because i want to be a baker someday.. i want to pursue the course of Culinary arts baking and pastry.

Not just by the excellence of the actors and actresses when it comes to their performance but also because it has a very unique and inspiring story! You would learn many inspiring lessons which you can use in all aspects in life. Baker King is not just an ordinary drama but a way of the writers to relay to us viewers the importance of virtues and good qualities. Tak Gu, although always been underestimated and tricked by others, he keeps on smiling and face life positively. He believes that failure is not the end of life. Kim Mi Sun, Tak Gu’s mother, also has a very significant role. She portrayed what a good and ideal mother would teach her son. Gu Il Jung, Tak Gu’s father, also showed an ideal father though he may have some lacking and unfairness. I have so many good things to say about this drama but I think words are not enough to express how thankful I am that this drama came into my life. I had more than entertainment, The Baker King has changed me, Tak Gu can really move someone’s heart. Because of this drama, I had a new outlook in life. Keep watching Baker King everyone! I never thought that the day will come when i would be hooked up to a TV series…like this..i love watching NCIS …i’ve been wondering what makes this TV series captivate my attention…i guess they have one it common with NCIS….its the characters of the cast.. very interesting….they are very inspiring i love Mr.President just like gibbs he is always composed and deciplined….Tak Gu…. very inspiring..always wears a smile amidst circumtances…..For Teacher Pol i like your peace of advises….To all Filipino fan hope you continue watching this TV series…it’s gonna move your world…..its gave us an inspiration….And to GMA 7 (Philippine) thanks for bringing this TV series home…but hope we could have our own….not a filipino verson…but be inspired in producing TV series that have a main Team……..

To those of you who chose not to continue watching this drama just because Eugene is not the main love interest in this drama; you guys be ashamed of yourselves. It’s completely shallow of you to just rule out this drama for such an infinitesimal thing. You’re missing out. This wonderful drama has a great moral in it. Finish it and then you’ll understand why Eugene’s character, NOT EUGENE, but her character did not end up with Tak Gu. (I love how she’s not playing her typical character!) Besides, this drama is not necessarily centered on romance, so if you’re really looking for that, choose another please. Don’t go whining about it. It’s rather idiotic, don’t ya agree?
I love Eugene but her character in King of Baking is not really good for our beloved Tak Gu – we want the best for him, right? In the beginning, I wanted Tak Gu and Yoo Kyung to end up together but at some point in the drama, I started rooting for Mi Sun. She may not be as pretty as Eugene but she has a clean heart and a pure spirit, always supportive of Tak Gu, a very positive person, has an inner beauty that shines through, spunky enough not to be boring, and yet she is full of wisdom. Kind of completely the opposite of Yoo Kyung. If I were Tak Gu’s mother, I’d definitely choose her. Yoo Kyung may be the first love, but if I were Tak-gu, Mi Sun would be the last.

D’ day i started to watch Baker King i was really hooked up,maybe bec of the interesting storyline,& all the characters in it.i can’t help but cry and laugh as i watched it..and there are a lot of lessons we can learn in this drama ( perseverance,being humble and simple,self confidence).its getting more interesting now and im hoping that the wife , the manager, & their son will be thrown into prison,hahaha!I know a lot of people hate them and the way they play their character…its really effective.So good luck to all of you,hope that it will extend its run to over 50 eps.or a part 2 will be just great.KEEP IT UP,guys!!!!
Hello,I really like serial of bread.love.dream,the contenet of this serial is very meaningful and all of actors are playing good,I have seen 16 parts of serial up to now.I dont know to like kim takgus simplicity and troubles or not,because he is such me causes full of problems,with out fun I like Yoon Shi Yoon,Joo Won and Lee Young Ah.I hope see them one day them from near or talk online(bests from Iranian girl to all of people)
The characters are very strong especially Tak Goo. I wish his father Goo In Jong can be a stronger force than his wife.He seems resigned to fate, unlike his son. But his acting is very good too as a loving father – I remember seeing him in Jumong? Also the bakery grandfather, father, and man who protects Tak Gu makes the drama really super entertaining. Didn’t watch earlier but the high ratings got me curious what kind of show this is. After that, can’t wait for next episodes.
Is there no law and order in that place? U murder the grandma, try to kill the father in the car accident, let a 12 yr old boy wander the streets, poison the brother etc… and nobody reports to the police, CID, welfare for orphans etc?? They all use under hand methods to get even. I find this is quite unrealistic. But most kdramas use this formula for success.
Ma Jun got the worst genes from both his biological parents, so guess nature and spoilt by mother made him as evil as his bioparents.
Mi Seon is adorable and she’ll be good partner for Tak Gu emotionally, She also is a kind, positive person and tries to see the bright side of things. TG needs such a person to hold him after all he’s been thru. Actually TG is an emotional superman – nothing brings him down! So far..
Hope he get success in everything later.

Oh my! This is one of the few korean dramas that keep me glued to the telly. Too bad the TV station here only shows it twice weekly. Can’t wait for the next episode! That Shi Yoon fella is very cute!I like his cheeky yet innocent smile. And when he cried for his mum, i cried with him. Sniff. Ah, a child’s unwavering love for his mother and his quest to find her is something that will touch any heart. Two thumbs up!
I’m surprised that this is the first time Joo Won (Gu Ma Jun) act in a drama series! He’s good! I hope that Yu Kyung (Eugene Kim) goes with Ma Jun and Ma Jun be a better person. & I think at the end of the day Tak Gu will not take over Geo Seong. He will work at Mi Seon grandpa’s bakery and together they will run the business together. I think Ma Jun will be a better person and decided to give up on Geo Seong. And hopefully Yu Kyung will love him. I think Geo Seong will go to the eldest daughter of the Gu family, Ja Kyung. After all she work so hard for the company and be accepted. hehe thats my wish
After learning that Eugene wont be portraying the role at opposite Kim Tak Gu… I don’t think I’ll continue on watching this drama.

haha i like this drama. i like lee young ah kekeke i do like her with lee jun ki in iljimae but at the end they didn’t become couple. at these drama she become couple with yoon si yoon who lee jun ki look alike and i feel their chemistry here. lee young ah look very young and cute here. love her new hair and character i do want she couple with kim tak gok character. eugene too old for yoon si yoon so i can feel the age gap between them. but i like to see her in antagonist character. usually i don’t like to watch korean drama if i don’t feel the chemistry, last drama i watched was iljimae and sorry i love you where actor and actress had excellent chemistry. so i look foward chemistry between lee young ah and yoon si yoon

I think both Eugene and Lee Young Ah’s roles are both substantial and important to the storyline. I have watched Eugene in Save The Last Dance, Its A Wonderful life and I really Really Like You. In all these dramas she played good straight up roles.I think the role she is playing now choosing power over love is way heck of a change of character for Eugene. Its a big stretch for her.
On the other hand I watched Lee Young Ah in Golden Bride and her role in King Of Baking is way different from that pathetic, cry baby role as a Vietnamese mail order bride… I got tired of her pitiful character in that drama. I am loving her vivacious
fun and full of life almost childlike potrayal of Ming Seon. She is a comedian at work.
I will continue to watch this drama although I am getting so upset on how the wife, the manager and their child together can get away with murder.I love everything about specific Korean dramas except for the villains reaching the heights of their evil works before they get punish.
I don’t think Jun Mi Sun was in Jumong. She was in East Of Eden, as a mother too, imo.
